“Iwa-Pele” Revised Edition by Awo Falokun Fatunmbi

In this ground breaking book, Awo Falokun Fatunmbi continues the work of Yoruba writers such as Dr. Wande Abimbola and others in unmasking the deep cosmological and theological principles of the Yoruba people. This exposition of the theology of the Yoruba people challenges the prevailing prejudicial assumptions regarding the depth, beauty and relevance of African theological thought.

Titled “Iwa Pele,” this book focuses on the indigenous African belief that ethics and spiritual growth are irrevocably linked. Written in a highly accessible manner and in a style easily assimilated by the Western mind, this great work also provides sensible direction for those wishing to embark on the spiritual path of Ifa. Each chapter provides instruction for the adept on Ifa/orisa veneration as done in the traditional manner.

Now That Grandma’ Is In Town…

It use to be that I was too busy after work to do house chores, i.e., wash dishes, wash clothes, oversee homework, pick up Olusola, cook, etc;  But now that GRANDMA’ is in town, the children literally race to the door to greet me and vanish to the side of GRANDMA’.  Which throws off the ecological making of la casa.  Ok so maybe ecological is not the best word, so let’s just say GRANDMA’ is unbalancing the natural habitat of our home.

No longer can I use the children for being lazy and escaping chores.  KMT is now timing my route home from work and assigning me house duties I haven’t done in 10 years; she actually tried to call me, at which I ignored, then texted me and demanded that I make broccoli.  I’m a man with muscles, at least assign me to taking the garbage out or something – but BROCCOLI!!!???

So while I’m blogging I can’t help but notice that GRANDMA’ and the children are in the room, enjoying their selves playing board games.  See the problem is GRANDMA’ now home schools Olusola and helps Freedom with her homework after school.  And just when I thought that I can use my freelance work as an excuse, come to find out I have 5 clients lined up, all lacking the content for their websites to move forward.  To make it worst, I tried bringing work home from the job and that was rolling successfully until yesterday when KMT says, “You know, the more you do their work at home the less you get paid on the job.  They are paying you hourly so they’re getting more buck for your contract.” DAMN!!! Can’t beat a woman with sense.

I love my mother, I truly do! But she’s too damn AWESOME!!!  She loves her grandchildren and calls Olusola her “Doo-Doo Bug”.  Freedom and moms petitioned to go into business together, beading – so Freedom asked, “When can we set up a meeting with you to do our website”.  Being tired from doing nothing after work, i tried to avoid the petition but was reminded again over the weekend (by Freedom) that we need to meet… sigh.

So Doo-Doo Bug is now able to request toys, and foods in multiple colors (red car, blue truck, green grapes, white juice (not water!!!) – but literally juice, and Freedom is trying to contract me out and KMT is demanding that I work around the house or as she (KMT) says, “we can now dibby the house work between us”.  Who the !!!adult volgar sex!!! is dibby!!!

Thank You all for reading / listening… Go GREEN – GRANMA IS AWESOME!!!

Gone, but not forgotten

It’s been a little over a month since the last blog post.  I hoped that even after we transitioned from the 365 we would still blog on a frequent basis.  So here are a few updates.

My year of MORE is about to take it up a notch as I start massage school on Tuesday!!! I’m super excited to begin this journey. I’m really going to discipline myself and focus on my own personal development during this time.  As a healer you must put in the work within in order for manifest without. I decided I wanted to pursue massage therapy about twelve years ago so it’s been a long time coming.  I’m a little apprehensive, I must admit, to see how the schedule pans out with work and fam but am positive it will “WORK OUT”.  My program is 27 weeks total which should have me finishing up the first week of April.  Doing this will open up so many opportunities/options for me in my career.

I kinda fell off the wagon with exercising and clean eating last month so I’m working my way back to consistency.  I keep thinking about doing Insanity again, no solid plans as of yet.  I can most definitely tell the difference in how my body responds to what i consume and how active I am.

Not a super long blog.  I’m a wee bit tired.  I’m sure I’ll be making more post in order to share my school experiences.

Much Love and Appreciation!

50 Shades of Foreplay

So I just recently finished the 50 Shades Trilogy and I must say that it was a good read.  I have to admit that I wasn’t interested at first during the initial hype from what I heard/read people say about it.  However my cousin sent me a free copy of the three books so I decided to give it a try.  From what I heard people were making it seem like this intense erotica book, but for me it was more than that.  True there is sex all throughout the book, but most romance novels do.  50 Shades…is a love story with drama, suspense that depicts how unconditional love can heal deeply rooted psychological scars.  More than a sex book….but I think the thing that got a lot of readers attention was the incorporation of sex toys in their intimacy.  The author did a very good job of displaying how foreplay intensifies the lovemaking experience and orgasms.  In my opinion foreplay is EVERYTHING..lol   Our bodies respond to the sensations of touch, smell, taste and the things we hear and comprehend.  Foreplay preps the body with anticipation of the “grand finale”. It’s amazing how a touch or kiss at the nape of the neck can send signals down below the waist. lol I read an article today that said that the sex toy industry experienced a boost from the 50 Shades books.  While some of Mr. Grey’s fetishes were quite extreme I’m sure that many women were intrigued by the possibilities of pushing their pleasure capacity to greater heights through the use of “toys”.

I would love to see to see 50 Shades on the big screen as I think it will make for a good movie.

30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself

It’s amazing at times how the “Universe” works.  Today I had to face my past head on.  Though that ill feel came and went, I must admit that I was a bit bothered that I’m still dealing with a few mistakes from an old self.  Either way, in order to not make this post long and to drop a great post on you all, I’ll get straight to the point.  After I was totally over the episode and going on about my day, I happen to bump into this post online that reassured me in keeping forward.  The link is below and I think it’s a great share amongst friends and family.  Stay forward!!! Mark “Born Divine” Anthony Artist Statement

When I look through my lens I am looking for a relationship with my subject(s); I am looking for how they want to represent and portray themselves. What I love most about photography is the ability to capture the essence and or character of the subject. When my images are poetic and speak for themselves without my explanation, then and only then do I consider that I have done a good job.

Before the digital age I always preferred shooting with Black & White film, though I’d also shoot in color. I strongly agree with Ted Grants quote: “ When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black & White you photograph their souls!” I love that now I have the option to make any photograph Black & White through digital processing. When it comes to tools of the trade, my favorite lens to shoot with is my 50mm because it allows for lower aperture and is the closest to the human eye. Most photographers will probably hang me for this but, I’m not particular about camera brands; as of now, I mostly shoot with a Nikon I named “Trigger”. But if I had to capture an image with a pinhole camera, I would.

I can’t really say that I have a particular style of photography because I adapt to the style, energy and character of my subject(s); something I was forced to learn as a fashion photographer from 1994 to 1998. With me, photographing someone is definitely an exchange of energy. If anything my style is fluid and based on the moment. At times I would have a particular model for a specific shoot and by the time we’re on location everything changes to adapt to that moment. My creative process begins with me being open to that sudden change depending on the nature and character of the setting and subject.

Time and time again I find myself breaking the rules of what some people would call “good photography”. In my portraits I capture the essence and spirit of the moment more than the positioning of the individual. My compositions are from a natural real world perspective instead of an orchestrated static setting. This is where I differ from most photographers when defining “good photography”. Sometimes you have to capture the moment because it’s only guaranteed to happen once and if we are overzealous about “good photography” it’s possible that we miss that sacred moment that truly defines the shot.

I believe my work silently speaks for itself. I am not a boastful person when it comes to my own work; and often find myself admiring the work of other photographers; possibly because my work is my own. Neither am I a competitive photographer. I believe every photographer has a unique eye and that’s what gives the industry variety. It’s difficult to be competitive while admiring other people’s style and approach when it comes to photography. My work in most cases is discovered by the nature of the work itself, which informs me that it’s good work.

My approach to photography has changed throughout the years. Currently my focus is nonlinear narrative photography and building a series of photographic catalogs. When I’m not photographing something or someone I’m either designing or developing websites, reading and or spending quality time with my family.
